Saints Simon and Jude were two of Jesus Christ’s original twelve apostles, traditionally celebrated together on October 28 due to their shared missionary work and martyrdom. Simon, often called “the Zealot,” is associated with a fierce commitment to Jewish law and later evangelization in Egypt and Persia. Jude, also known as Thaddeus, authored the New Testament’s Epistle of Jude and is universally revered today as the patron saint of lost causes and desperate situations. According to Christian tradition, both apostles traveled together to preach the Gospel in Persia, where they were ultimately martyred for refusing to worship pagan idols.
