Missionary Society of Saint Paul
“Pro Christo Legatione Ergo Fungimur”
The Missionary Society of St. Paul (MSP) is a Clerical Society of Apostolic Life of Diocesan Right dedicated to fulfilling the Church’s global missionary mandate. Founded with a vision to reconcile the world in Christ, members of the Society serve all people, with a deeply rooted commitment to ministering to the poor and marginalized.
To fulfill this mission, MSP priests take an Oath of Permanent Membership, observing the evangelical counsels of Chastity, Poverty, and Obedience. Guided by the Holy Spirit, they carry the Word of God to the corners of the earth, using their diverse gifts to build up the body of Christ.

Our Symbols and Spirituality
The spirituality of the Missionary Society of St. Paul is beautifully captured in its official symbols:
- The Cross: The universal sign of Salvation and the ultimate message of our preaching.
- The Dove: Representing the Holy Spirit, who guides and empowers our global ministry.
- The Stole: The symbol of our sacred Ministry and priestly configuration to Christ.
- The Bible: The living Word of God that we are called to proclaim to all nations.
- The Globe: Reflecting our expansive world ministry area and universal mission field.
- The Pen: Signaling our engagement with the Apostolate of the Pen, utilizing media and writing to evangelise.
A Mission of Gratitude in Canada
Originally established in Nigeria, the Society’s presence in North America is affectionately known as a “Mission of Gratitude.” Having once received the gift of the Catholic faith from generous early Canadian missionaries, MSP priests now cross the globe to reciprocate that generosity. By responding to the invitations of Canadian bishops, the Society stands as a living witness to the universality of the Church, walking alongside individuals and families through modern-day life issues.
