St. Teresa of Jesus, also known as St. Teresa of Ávila, was a prominent 16th-century Spanish mystic, Carmelite nun, and writer who radically reformed her religious order. She founded the Discalced Carmelites, emphasizing a return to a life of strict poverty, solitude, and deep prayer. Renowned for her profound spiritual experiences, she chronicled her journey in foundational texts like The Interior Castle and The Way of Perfection, which remain masterpieces of Christian mysticism. In 1970, her intellectual and spiritual contributions were universally recognized when Pope Paul VI declared her the first female Doctor of the Church.

St. Teresa, bold friend of God and teacher of prayer,
help me to quiet my busy and restless heart.
Teach me to look inward and find God waiting in my soul.
When life feels heavy or confusing,
remind me of your wise words: God alone suffices.
Pray that I receive the courage to love Jesus deeply,
to trust Him in the silence,
and to walk closely by His side today.
Amen.
