St. Lawrence (d. 258 AD) was one of the seven deacons of Rome under Pope Sixtus II. He is revered as one of the most celebrated martyrs of the early Church. As a deacon, his primary duty was managing church resources and distributing alms to the poor, widows, and orphans.
PRAYER
Glorious St. Lawrence, intrepid deacon and martyr, you transformed the fire of persecution into a joyful testimony of faith. You saw the true treasures of the Church in the vulnerable and the poor.
Pray for us, that we may remain steadfast in our love for God and fearless in living the Gospel in our daily lives. Help us to recognize Christ in the marginalized, and give us the grace to use our time, talents, and resources to serve those in need.
Protect our communities from indifference, and grant us your joyful endurance in times of trial. St. Lawrence, patron of the poor, pray for us.
